Date: Tuesday, 2 October 2007, at 10:50 a.m.
Start with two outstanding new films enjoying their N.J. premieres prior to theatrical release, add a dash of filmmaker Q&As, panel discussions, award-winning student films, then season with classic films and family-friendly special events, and you have the recipe for great entertainment at the upcoming Teaneck International Film Festival.
The Teaneck International Film Festival, to be presented Nov. 2-4, 2007, at the Cedar Lane Cinemas, 503 Cedar Lane, Wilson Auditorium at Dickinson Hall at Fairleigh Dickinson University, River St., Hackensack and Puffin Cultural Forum, 20 Puffin Way, Teaneck, will feature more than 20 feature-length films, documentaries and shorts that explore the thousand ways we connect -- and disconnect -- in the family, in the work environment, in the community. The weekend will take filmgoers on journeys from Bergen County to Alabama, Europe, Australia and India and beyond; from the present to decades past to mythical, pre-historic times. For more information on the full program of films and special events, visit www.teaneckfilmfestival.org.)
Headlining the festival is the opening night screening of “Honeydripper” at the Cedar Lane Cinemas, the new film written, directed and edited by the incomparable John Sayles and produced by Maggie Renzi, on Friday, Nov. 2. Both will participate in a Q&A prior to the screening, at 8:15 p.m. This film had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in mid-September; the Nov. 2 screening will be a New Jersey premiere.
On Saturday night, November 3, the festival proudly presents “Starting Out in the Evening” at the Cedar Lane Cinemas, based on the novel by the same name by Teaneck native Brian Morton. Scheduled for theatrical release later in November, the film has already garnered critical kudos for Frank Langella, Lauren Ambrose and Lili Taylor. At 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at the Puffin Cultural Forum, Brian Morton will participate in a Q&A about the process of transforming the novel into a film. The festival will present more than 20 feature-length films, documentaries, and shorts as well as award-winning student films, a one-day Pitch NEHST session run by producer Larry Meistrich (www.pitchnehst.com) plus Q&As with filmmakers, panel discussions and more.
