The Fort Lee Film Commission is sad to announce that our friend Al Dettlaff has passed away. Al, an 84-year-old film collector from Wisconsin, honored us in 2003 by allowing us to bring him to New Jersey for the first large scale public screening of the only exisiting print of Edison's Frankenstein. This film was produced in 1910. Al enjoyed himself and relished his days in Jersey with the Fort Lee Film Commission. We spent two weeks with Al and those are two weeks we will never forget. Al was a great charachter in the best sense. The screenings of Edison's Frankenstein at the Landmark Loews in Jersey City and The Galaxy in Guttenberg helped put this commission on the map and for that we will be forever grateful to Al.
