Chris Costello hosts A & C screening 11/12 in NY

Abbott & Costello Meet Captain Kidd showing along with five other programs at Salute to Film Preservation Festival at the 1000-seat Lafayette Theatre in Suffern, NY. Weekend of November 12 & 13.

THE LAFAYETTE THEATRE SALUTE TO FILM PRESERVATION salutes the heroic work from film archives around the world in preserving our motion picture heritage and features six programs of rare and hard-to-see films. Among the programs will be the East Coast premiere of the newly-restored SuperCineColor treat ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET CAPTAIN KIDD, which will feature additional rare film footage and a personal appearance and Q & A session with Lou Costello's daughter Chris Costello, presented in cooperation with the Fort Lee Film Commission. Other films being screened highlight different film processes,including two-color Technicolor, three-strip Technicolor, silent cinema and 3-D. All of the films are screening in the finest studio and archive prints available and each show will feature pre-show music from the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ.

Schedule:
Saturday 11/12
12:45 pm - ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET CAPTAIN KIDD (East Coast premiere of the newly restored print from the SuperCineColor elements; print provided by UCLA Film & Television Archive) with rare shorts. IN PERSON - Chris Costello (Lou's daughter), presented in cooperation with the Fort Lee Film Commission, will participate in a Q & A session moderated by Bob Furmanek & Ron Palumbo, authors of "Abbott & Costello in Hollywood."

3:30 pm - DOCTOR X - the rarely-shown creepy horror film in Warner Bros. vault print created from the two-color Technicolor original.

7:15 pm - THE BIG PARADE - a new restored print of the 1925 silent film classic, with live Pipe Organ accompaniment by John Baratta

Sunday 11/13
1:30 pm - Bob Furmanek Presents 3-D FOLLIES. A selection of rare short subjects introduced by 3-D film historian Bob Furmanek and presented in the miracle of perfected double-system polarized third dimension. Films showing: Motor Rhythm, Adventures of Sam Space, Stardust in Your Eyes, The Black Swan, Doom Town, Boo Moon ...and more! Prints restored and preserved by the 3-D Film Archive.

3:30 pm - A STAR IS BORN, the original 1937 Technicolor version starring Fredric March & Janet Gaynor, restored print provided by UCLA.

7:15 pm - Howard Hughes' HELL'S ANGELS - the epic WWI story showing in a restored full-length print - inclusive of the color sequences - from
Universal.
