The Borough of Fort Lee is not a shell of itself at all - many of us are and have been working hard to preserve our history and the work being done in Fort Lee today is the result - as is the Fort Lee Film Commission and this website. We have an active Fort Lee Museum on Palisade Avenue in the old Judge Moore House and it has been in operation aince 1999. As for the property behind the garden apartments - we have Constsitution Park there and the Film Commission has dedicated 4 historic markers detailing the studios that stood there and the many actors, directors and film industry professionals that made histroy at this site. We also hold our 12 week summer "Movies & Music Under the Stars" program at Constitution Park - it will run this year from June 14 through August 30. We have rededicated the corner of Main and Linwood as "Theda Bara Way" for the first star of Fox Studio. The Film Commission is in the process of the final restoration of the the 1912 film "Robin Hood" produced at Eclair Studio on Linwood Avenue. Many of us involved in the Film Commission had relatives who worked as extras in the silent film industry in Fort Lee and / or in the film storage and labs in the years after such as Consolidated in West Fort Lee. So please refer to this website to see that Fort Lee is a vibrant and active community that finally is preserving and promoting its role as the first American film town. You can purchase the great book "Fort Lee: The Film Town" off this site and we are in the process of writing another book to be published late this year entitled "Fort Lee: Birthplace of the Motion Picutre Industry." We invite you to the Fort Lee Museum if you do return and you would be an honored guest as a former Fort Lee resident with great memories of a great town. Best wishes.
