I am working on project of the personal papers and expedition film material of Arthur C. Twomey (1908-1996). Twomey started his career at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, PA in 1936. Among the positions he held were Curator of Ornithology and in 1948 was appointed to the Division of Education.
He retired some time around 1974 from CMNH and moved to Fort Lee,NJ where he had an educational film company called Grise Inc.
From the research that I have done thus far, which includes doing an inventory of Twomey's personal papers, I have discovered that he was a prolific filmmaker who toured the country as a lecturer.
Some of the film titles are:
North to the Polar Seas
An Arctic Summer
The Untamed World, Arctic and Man, Episode 79, Produced by CTV Television Network Ltd., Production # 15079
East Africa Today
Africa’s Vanishing WildernessIf anyone in the Fort Lee area knew of Dr.Twomey or had seen any of his film lectures, I would love to hear about it.
Thank you,
James DaMico
