‘PITCH TO ME’ SAYS “SLING BLADE” PRODUCER LARRY MEISTRICH

New York, March 14, 2006 “At our new Aspiring Filmmakers Boot Camp all attendees can pitch their movie ideas and talents to me and other top working film pros. This is unprecedented access.” says Larry Meistrich, producer of over fifty feature films, including Oscar winner Sling Blade, You Can Count On Me, and Croupier. The Boot Camp weekend workshop is being co-sponsored by Fairleigh Dickinson University and it premieres at Fairleigh Dickinson’s Metropolitan Campus, Teaneck, NJ April 21-23.

According to Meistrich “The Aspiring Filmmaker’s Bootcamp” was established to give everyone access to the entertainment industry, while educating them about the truth, realities and specifics of making a film.” Directors Dana Offenbach and Dave Gebroe, casting director Lina Todd, and legal expert Alfred Nardelli join Meistrich in teaching the workshop for directors, actors, producer, and writers – anyone looking to break into film. Step by step, participants will learn how to write and direct their own low-budget feature, hear extensive information on the “business” of the business and be guided through the steps of prepping, producing, finishing and delivering a film. It’s also a great networking and casting opportunity for actors.

Dana Offenbach adds: “Our goal is to have every participant leave with a working knowledge of how to break into the entertainment industry”. The final day of the weekend will include a question and answer and pitch session geared towards finding undiscovered talent.” The jam packed weekend will include intensive sessions on:

• Development

• Securing Financing

• Pre-production

• Production

• Post-production

• Finding and securing distribution

• Q & A / Pitch Session

Says Meistrich “We have an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Clio. We discovered Billy Bob Thornton, Edie Falco, Mischa Barton and Sam Rockwell. Are you next? Who knows, you just might walk out of the Aspiring Filmmakers Boot Camp with a deal!”

Editor’s Note: Mr. Meistrich is available for media interviews.
