Our Summer Musical
Children of Eden
Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz; Book by John Caird
Stephen Schwartz has written music and lyrics for many well-known
shows (Wicked, Godspell, and Pippin, to name a few), but it can be
argued that Children of Eden is one of his crowning achievements.
With a devoted following among actors and audiences alike, it is
summed up best by reviewer Carol de Giere:
"Children of Eden is perhaps the least describable Schwartz musical
because it holds meaning on so many levels. The excuse for the story
is Genesis--both the first books and the story of Noah's ark. But
audiences immediately experience that the relationships between
Father, Adam, and Eve has more to do with earthly families, their
immediate challenges and their generational legacies."
Children of Eden will be onstage July 27-August 12, 2006 at St.
Catherine of Bologna, 112 Erskine Road, Ringwood, NJ. Auditions will
be held April 26 and 27 2006 from 7-10 PM and April 29 from 1-5 PM at
the Parish Center. The production will be directed by Dan Reed (973-
809-3081). Directions are available on our website, stcpag.org.
There are roles for children (age 8 and up) and adults of all ages.
We are looking for a very diverse cast. Please come prepared to sing
and perform a simple dance routine/movement sequence to be taught at
auditions. Those seeking one of the lead roles should come prepared
